About Us

Empowering Athletes to Achieve Peak Performance Through Personalized Mental Performance Coaching.

Athletes from multiple sports Joe Cerniglia coaches through the Sports Enhancement Program

Mission/Vision

Academic sports excel at teaching students physical and sport-specific skills but often fall short in developing their mental, motivational, and emotional regulation abilities. Long Trail Multi-Sport aims to address this gap by working with student-athletes from the inside out, integrating mental, social, and physical development. We teach athletes how to harness their mental, emotional, and social skills to unlock their personal growth and identity.

At Long Trail Multi-Sport, we focus on developing the athlete from the inside out.

Empowerment

We believe in empowering student-athletes to take ownership of their mental, emotional, and physical development. Our approach fosters self-awareness and resilience, enabling them to overcome challenges and achieve their goals.

Holistic Development

We value the integration of mind and body in the growth of our athletes. By focusing on mental, emotional, and social skills alongside physical training, we ensure a well-rounded approach to sports and personal development.

Integrity

We uphold honesty and transparency in our coaching methods and interactions. Building trust with our athletes and their families is essential to fostering a positive and supportive environment.

Growth Mindset

We encourage a growth mindset, emphasizing the importance of learning from experiences, embracing challenges, and viewing setbacks as opportunities for growth. Our athletes are guided to develop mental toughness and adaptability.

History of Long Trail Multi-Sport

Long Trail Multi-Sport was founded by Joe Cerniglia, a seasoned triathlete and coach with over two decades of competitive experience. Joe’s passion for athletics began in his own journey as a triathlete, competing in events ranging from local 5K runs to the prestigious Ironman World Championship. As his career advanced, Joe realized that many young athletes faced challenges beyond physical training—balancing academics, handling pressure, and overcoming mental blocks. This realization inspired him to create the Sports Enhancement Program and Long Trail Multi-Sport, a program designed to address the unique needs of high school athletes by blending physical conditioning with mental and emotional development.

Since its inception, Long Trail Multi-Sport has grown into a trusted resource for student-athletes throughout New England looking to unlock their full potential. Joe’s signature Sports Enhancement Program (SEP) offers a personalized approach, helping athletes improve their performance while also developing critical life skills such as emotional regulation, mental toughness, and self-coaching techniques. Today, Joe continues to lead Long Trail Multi-Sport, empowering the next generation of athletes to not only excel in their sports but also build character, resilience, and confidence that will serve them far beyond the playing field.
